Parade of Lights

The 2018 event marks the 32nd Annual Parade of Lights. Starting with fun for the entire family at Santa's Village, the event culminates with a 5-minute fireworks display. The boat parade is preceded by Santa’s Village activities beginning at 3 p.m. on the City Pier in Santa Barbara Harbor (by the boats). Hundreds of families will come out to play in 10 tons of snow and take photos with Santa to get into the holiday spirit. The first 400 children receive free goody bags from Santa's helpers!

At 5:30 p.m. the annual boat parade begins with approximately 30 boats motoring, sailing, and paddling the Santa Barbara Coastline to the theme of Hollywood Holidays. Judging takes place at Stearns Wharf and boats are awarded donated cash and prizes in five categories. Best viewing locations include Stearns Wharf and the breakwater. Then visitors enjoy a fireworks show after the parade, ending their night with a bang.

Old Spanish Days Fiesta

Hello, and welcome to the Old Spanish Days in Santa Barbara website. This week-long festival was started in 1924 as a way to attract tourists to our city, honor there- opening of the Lobero Theatre, and, to celebrate the reminiscences of old-time Santa Barbara families passed down by their grandparents. For you history buffs, we invite you to visit the History pages you’ll find on our website.

Many of our Board members are descended from the first Spanish Settlers who founded Santa Barbara in 1782. They are proud of their heritage, and help keep the history, traditions and spirit of Fiesta alive. Bill Luton: Ortega Family. Jose Francisco de Ortega was the Chief Scout for the Governor/Lt. Colonel Gaspar de Portolá expedition in 1769, and was the first European to discover San Francisco Bay. He was the first Commandante of the Presidio, and upon retirement was granted Rancho Nuestra Señora del Refugio.
